As a Beginning Teacher...

As a beginning teacher, I am now realizing "the real teaching experience" is much different, yet SO worth it!  It's somewhat of a weird feeling that I'm the one in chargeWhat?  I'm finally "adult enough" to be in charge? (ha)  At the beginning of the year, I felt like someone should be telling ME what to do, how to do it, and when it should be done, until it clicked..."whoa, I'm that person doing the telling and they're the former me"!  At first it is a timid feeling that you are in complete control of all those precious little faces looking back at you; however, it is an exciting feeling that you can make a difference in a child's life forever.  While going through school and college courses it is easy to say and write papers on all of the wonderful and multiple tasks teachers do for the students, but SHEW, actually doing them is another story.  As one of my professors in college always said, "if you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, at the end of the day you will be completely drained and have a 'different type of tired'".  I love getting to know my students, not only because I have an interest in them but it also allows me to provide appropriate instruction.  Many times, I find myself getting excited to create lessons and will go out of my way to make them fun and effective to their learning process.  I am more than pleased with my chosen profession and I wouldn't change my decision to be a teacher for the world.
